Dhammapada 18.7

असज्झायमला मन्ता, अनुट्ठानमला घरा। मलं वण्णस्स कोसज्जं, पमादो रक्खतो मलं॥

asajjhayamala manta, anutthana-mala ghara; malam vannassa kosajjam, pamado rakkhato malam.

Non-recitation is the blight of scriptures; non-maintenance is the blight of houses. Sloth is the blight of beauty; heedlessness is the blight of a watchman.

अनाभ्यास मंत्रों का मैल है; अरखरखाव घरों का मैल है। सौंदर्य का मैल आलस्य है; पहरेदार का मैल प्रमाद है।
