Dhammapada 20.1

मग्गानट्ठङ्गिको सेट्ठो, सच्चानं चतुरो पदा। विरागो सेट्ठो धम्मानं, द्विपदानञ्च चक्खुमा॥

maggan' atthangiko settho, saccanam caturo pada; virago settho dhammanam, dvipadananca cakkhuma.

The best of paths is the Eightfold Path; the best of truths are the Four Noble Truths. Non-attachment is the best of states; the best of bipeds is the Seeing One.

मार्गों में आर्य अष्टांगिक मार्ग श्रेष्ठ है; सत्यों में चार आर्यसत्य श्रेष्ठ हैं। धर्मों में विराग श्रेष्ठ है; द्विपदों में चक्षुष्मान् (बुद्ध) श्रेष्ठ हैं।
