Dhammapada 20.11

वनं छिन्दथ मा रुक्खं, वनतो जायती भयं। छेत्वा वनञ्च वनथञ्च, निब्बना होथ भिक्खवो॥

vanam chindatha ma rukkham, vanato jayati bhayam; chetva vananca vanathanca, nibbana hotha bhikkhavo.

Cut down the forest of desire, not just a tree. From the forest of desire springs fear. Having cut down the forest and its undergrowth, be free from the forest, O monks.

वन (आसक्ति-जंगल) काटो, एक पेड़ नहीं। वन से भय उत्पन्न होता है। हे भिक्षुओ, वन और वनगहन दोनों काटकर वन-रहित (निब्बान-प्राप्त) हो जाओ।
