Dhammapada 22.10

नगरं यथा पच्चन्तं गुत्तं सन्तरबाहिरं। एवं गोपेथ अत्तानं खणो वो मा उपच्चगा। खणातीता हि सोचन्ति निरयम्हि समप्पिता॥

nagaram yatha paccantam guttam santarabahiram, evam gopetha attanam khano vo ma upaccaga, khanatita hi socanti nirayamhi samappita.

Just as a border city is guarded within and without, so guard yourself. Do not let the moment pass, for those who miss the moment grieve when consigned to a state of woe.

जैसे सीमावर्ती नगर भीतर और बाहर दोनों ओर से सुरक्षित रखा जाता है, वैसे ही अपनी रक्षा करो — क्षण को बीतने मत दो; क्षण के चूकने वाले निरय में पहुँचकर शोक करते हैं।
