Dhammapada 23.1

अहं नागो'व सङ्गामे चापातो पतितं सरं। अतिवाक्यं तितिक्खिस्सं दुस्सीलो हि बहुज्जनो॥

aham nago'va sangame capato patitam saram, ativakkyam titikkhissam dussilo hi bahujjano.

As an elephant in the battlefield endures the arrows shot from the bow, even so shall I endure abuse, for many people are ill-natured.

जैसे संग्राम में हाथी धनुष से छूटे बाण को सहन कर लेता है, वैसे ही मैं वचन-प्रहार सहन करूँगा; क्योंकि बहुत से लोग दुःशील होते हैं।
