Dhammapada 26.36

हित्वा रतिञ्च अरतिञ्च सीतिभूतं निरूपधिं। सब्बलोकाभिभुं वीरं तमहं ब्रूमि ब्राह्मणं॥

hitva ratinca aratinca sitibhutam nirupadhim, sabbalokabhibhum viram tamaham brumi brahmanam.

One who has given up both pleasure and displeasure, who is cooled, free from substrata of existence, a hero who has conquered all the world — that one I call a brahmana.

जिसने रति और अरति दोनों को त्याग दिया है, जो शीतीभूत है, उपधि-रहित है, जो सब लोकों का अभिभू वीर है — उसे मैं ब्राह्मण कहता हूँ।
