Dhammapada 26.39

यस्स पुरे च पच्छा च मज्झे च नत्थि किञ्चनं। अकिञ्चनं अनादानं तमहं ब्रूमि ब्राह्मणं॥

yassa pure ca paccha ca majjhe ca natthi kincanam, akincanam anadanam tamaham brumi brahmanam.

One who has nothing before, behind, or in between, who possesses nothing and clings to nothing — that one I call a brahmana.

जिसके पूर्व, पश्चात् और मध्य में कुछ भी नहीं है, जो अकिंचन और अनादान है — उसे मैं ब्राह्मण कहता हूँ।
