Dhammapada 5.16

अञ्ञा हि लाभूपनिसा अञ्ञा निब्बानगामिनी | एवमेतं अभिञ्ञाय भिक्खु बुद्धस्स सावको | सक्कारं नाभिनन्देय्य विवेकमनुब्रूहये ॥

anna hi labhupanisa anna nibbanagamini | evametam abinnaya bhikkhu buddhassa savako | sakkaram nabhinandeyya vivekamanubruhaye ||

One is the path to worldly gain, and another is the path leading to Nibbana. Understanding this, the monk who is the disciple of the Buddha should not delight in honour but should cultivate detachment.

लाभ का हेतु अन्य है, निर्वाण-गामिनी (मार्ग) अन्य है। यह भली-भाँति जानकर बुद्ध-श्रावक भिक्षु सत्कार में अभिनन्दित न हो; वह विवेक (एकान्त) का अनुशीलन करे।
