Dhammapada 5.3

पुत्ता मत्थि धनं मत्थि इति बालो विहञ्ञति | अत्ता हि अत्तनो नत्थि कुतो पुत्ता कुतो धनं ॥

putta matthi dhanam matthi iti balo vihannati | atta hi attano natthi kuto putta kuto dhanam ||

'I have sons, I have wealth' — thus the fool is tormented. When even one's self does not belong to oneself, how much less sons and wealth?

‘मेरे पुत्र हैं, मेरा धन है’ — ऐसा सोचकर बाल पुरुष तप्त होता है। जब स्वयं ही अपना नहीं, तब पुत्र कहाँ, धन कहाँ?
