Guru Granth Sahib 1.16

ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥ ਪੰਚੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ ਪੰਚੇ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥ ਪੰਚਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੈ ਕਰਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥ ਧੌਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੂਤੁ ॥ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੂਤਿ ॥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬੁਝੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥ ਧਵਲੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਕੇਤਾ ਭਾਰੁ ॥ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਪਰੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੋਰੁ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੁ ਤਲੈ ਕਵਣੁ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਲਿਖੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧੫॥

panch parvaan panch pardhaan. panche paavahi dargahi maan. panche sohahi dar raajaan. panchaa kaa gur ek dhiaan. je ko kahai karai veechaar. karte kai karnai naahi sumaar. dhaul dharam daiaa kaa poot. santokh thaap rakhiaa jin soot. je ko bujhai hovai sachiaar. dhavalai upar ketaa bhaar. dharti hor parai hor hor. tis te bhaar talai kavan jor. naanak hukami likhai naau.

The chosen ones, the self-elect, are accepted and approved. The chosen ones are honored in the Court of the Lord. The chosen ones look beautiful in the courts of kings. The chosen ones meditate single-mindedly on the Guru. No matter how much anyone tries to explain and describe them, the actions of the Creator cannot be counted. The mythical bull is Dharma, the son of compassion; contentment is the rope which holds the earth in its place. One who understands this is a person of truth. What a great load there is on the bull! So many worlds beyond this world — so very many! What power holds them, and supports their weight? O Nanak, by the Hukam of His Command, He writes the names of all.

पाँच (चुने हुए) प्रामाणिक हैं, पाँच ही प्रधान हैं। पाँच दरगाह में मान पाते हैं। पाँच राजदरबारों में शोभा पाते हैं। पाँचों का गुरु एक ही (का) ध्यान है। कोई कहे या विचार करे — कर्ता के करने का कोई अंत नहीं। धर्म दया का पुत्र (पौराणिक) धवल-वृष है; संतोष ही वह सूत्र है जो (पृथ्वी को) थामे है। जो समझे, वह सचियार है। धवल पर कितना बोझ है! इस पृथ्वी के परे और धरतियाँ हैं, और फिर और। उसके नीचे से यह बोझ कौन उठाता है? हे नानक, हुक्म से वह नाम लिखता है।
