Guru Granth Sahib 1.27

ਮੁੰਦਾ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਰਮੁ ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ॥ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥ ਆਈ ਪੰਥੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਤੈ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤੁ ॥ ਆਦੇਸੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥ ਆਦਿ ਅਨੀਲੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਅਨਾਹਤਿ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਸੁ ॥੨੬॥

mundaa santokh saram pat jholi dhiaan ki karahi bibhoot. khinthaa kaal kuaaree kaaiaa jugat dandaa parteet. aaee panthi sagal jamaati man jeetai jag jeet. aades tisai aades. aad aneel anaad anaahat jug jug eko ves.

Make contentment your ear-rings, humility your begging bowl, and meditation the ashes you apply to your body. Let the remembrance of death be the patched coat you wear, let the purity of virginity be your way in the world, and let faith in the Lord be your walking stick. See the brotherhood of all mankind as the highest order of Yogis; conquer your own mind, and conquer the world. I bow to Him, I humbly bow. The Primal One, the Pure Light, without beginning, without end. Throughout all the ages, He is One and the Same.

संतोष को कुंडल, लज्जा को झोली, ध्यान को भभूत बना। मृत्यु की स्मृति को खिंथा (गुदड़ी), काया की पवित्रता को युक्ति, विश्वास को डंडा। सब मनुष्यों की भाईचारी को उच्चतम पंथ जानो; मन को जीतो तो जगत जीता। उसे ही नमस्कार, उसे ही नमस्कार। वह आदि, निर्मल प्रकाश, अनादि, अनाहत — युग-युग में एक रूप ही है।
