Guru Granth Sahib 1.31

ਇਕ ਦੂ ਜੀਭੌ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਲਖ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਲਖ ਵੀਸ ॥ ਲਖੁ ਲਖੁ ਗੇੜਾ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥ ਏਤੁ ਰਾਹਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਵੜੀਆ ਚੜੀਐ ਹੋਇ ਇਕੀਸ ॥ ਸੁਣਿ ਗਲਾ ਆਕਾਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਟਾ ਆਈ ਰੀਸ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਕੂੜੀ ਕੂੜੈ ਠੀਸ ॥੩੦॥

ik doo jeebhou lakh hohi lakh hovahi lakh vees. lakh lakh gerhaa aakheeahi ek naam jagdees. et raahi pat pavrheeaa charheeai hoi ikees. sun galaa aakaas ki keetaa aaee rees. naanak nadri paaeeai koorhi koorhai thees.

If I had 100,000 tongues, and these were then multiplied twenty times more, with each tongue I would repeat, hundreds of thousands of times, the Name of the One, the Lord of the World. Along this path to our Husband Lord, we climb the steps of the ladder, and come to merge with Him. Hearing of the etheric realms, even worms long to come back home. O Nanak, by His Grace He is obtained. False are the boastings of the false.

यदि एक जीभ के बदले लाख हों, फिर वे लाख बीस गुणा हों — और हर जीभ लाख-लाख बार 'जगदीश' का एक नाम कहे — इसी मार्ग पर पति के प्रेम की सीढ़ियाँ हैं, चढ़ने पर उसमें एकाकार हो जाते हैं। आकाश की बातें सुनकर कीड़ों को भी ईर्ष्या हो आती है। हे नानक, नज़र से पा लिया जाता है; झूठे की डींग झूठी है।
