Guru Granth Sahib 1.33

ਰਾਤੀ ਰੁਤੀ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥ ਪਵਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਥਾਪਿ ਰਖੀ ਧਰਮ ਸਾਲ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੀਅ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ ਕਰਮੀ ਕਰਮੀ ਹੋਇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਚਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥ ਤਿਥੈ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਵੈ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ ਕਚ ਪਕਾਈ ਓਥੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਇਆ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੨॥

raati ruti thiti vaar. pavan paani agni paataal. tis vich dharti thaap rakhi dharam saal. tis vich jia jugat ke rang. tin ke naam anek anant. karmi karmi hoi veechaar. sachaa aap sachaa darbaar. tithai sohan panch parvaan. nadri karam pavai neesaan. kach pakaaee othai paai. naanak gaiaa jaapai jaai.

Nights, days, weeks and seasons; wind, water, fire and the nether regions — in the midst of these, He established the earth as a home for Dharma. Upon it, He placed the various species of beings. Their names are uncounted and endless. By their deeds and their actions, they shall be judged. God Himself is True, and True is His Court. There, in perfect grace and ease, sit the self-elect, the self-realized saints. They receive the Mark of Grace from the Merciful Lord. The ripe and the unripe, the bigotry and the sin, shall there be judged. O Nanak, when you go home, you will see this.

रातें, ऋतुएँ, तिथियाँ, वार; पवन, पानी, अग्नि, पाताल — इनमें उसने धर्मशाला के रूप में धरती रखी। इसमें नाना रंग-रूप के जीव रखे। उनके नाम अनेक, अनंत। कर्मों के अनुसार विचार होगा। सच्चा वह स्वयं, सच्चा उसका दरबार। वहाँ पाँच (चुने हुए) शोभा पाते हैं, नज़र से निशान पड़ता है। कच्चे-पक्के का वहीं फैसला होता है। हे नानक, जाकर ही ज्ञात होता है।
