Guru Granth Sahib 2.12

ਅਨੰਦੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਤੁਟਾ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੈ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਹੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੧੨॥

anand anand sabh ko kahai anand guroo te jaaniaa. jaaniaa anand sadaa gur te kripaa kare piaariaa. kar kirpaa kilvikh kate giaan anjan saariaa. andrahu jin kaa mohu tutaa tin kaa sabad sachai savaariaa. kahai naanak ehu anand hai anand guroo te jaaniaa.

Bliss, bliss — everyone speaks of bliss, but bliss is known only through the Guru. Bliss is known forever through the Guru, when the Beloved shows mercy. By His grace, sins are erased and the ointment of spiritual wisdom is applied. Those whose attachment is broken from within — their lives are adorned by the True Shabad. Says Nanak, this is bliss — bliss is known only through the Guru.

'आनन्द-आनन्द' सब कहते हैं, पर आनन्द गुरु से ही जाना जाता है। आनन्द सदा गुरु से जाना जाता है, जब प्रियतम कृपा करे। कृपा करके पाप काटे, ज्ञान का अंजन लगाया। जिनके भीतर का मोह टूटा, उनके शब्द को सच्चे ने सँवारा। नानक कहते हैं — यह आनन्द है, आनन्द गुरु से जाना जाता है।
