Guru Granth Sahib 2.19

ਏ ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਤਾ ਸਹੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਾ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ਵਜੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਤਾ ਹੋਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੧੯॥

e man piaariaa too jot saroop hai aapnaa mool pachhaan. mool pachhaaneh taa sahu jaaneh maran jeevan kaa sojhee hoee. gur parsaadee eko jaanai taa doojaa bhaau na hoee. man saant aaee vajee vadhaaee taa hoaa parvaan. kahai naanak mann mere too jot saroop hai aapnaa mool pachhaan.

O my beloved mind, you are the embodiment of divine light — recognize your own origin. Recognize your origin, and then you shall know your Lord, and you shall understand the mystery of death and life. By the Guru's grace, know the One, and then the love of duality shall not remain. Peace comes to the mind, and congratulations resound — then you are approved. Says Nanak, O my mind, you are the embodiment of divine light — recognize your own origin.

हे प्यारे मन, तू ज्योति-स्वरूप है — अपना मूल पहचान। मूल पहचानेगा तो स्वामी को जानेगा, और मरण-जीवन का बोध होगा। गुरु-कृपा से एक को जाने, तो द्वैत-भाव नहीं रहेगा। मन में शांति आएगी, बधाइयाँ बजेंगी, तब तू स्वीकार्य होगा। नानक कहते हैं — हे मेरे मन, तू ज्योति-स्वरूप है, अपना मूल पहचान।
