Guru Granth Sahib 6.4

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਬ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਬ ਤੂਹੀ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ ਅਨਲ ਅਗਮ ਜੈਸੇ ਲਹਰਿ ਮਇ ਓਦਧਿ ਜਲ ਕੇਵਲ ਜਲ ਮਾਂਹੀ ॥

jab ham hote tab tu naahi ab tuhee mai naahi. anal agam jaise lahar mai odadhi jal keval jal maanhi.

When I existed, You did not; now You are, and I am not. Like the vast unfathomable waves of the ocean — all is water, nothing but water.

जब हम थे तब तू नहीं था; अब तू ही है, मैं नहीं। जैसे अनन्त-अगम समुद्र में लहरें उठती हैं — पर सब जल ही जल है।
