Katha Upanishad 6.1

ऊर्ध्वमूलमधःशाखमेतमश्वत्थं सनातनम् | तदेव शुक्रं तद्ब्रह्म तदेवामृतमुच्यते | सर्वे लोकास्तस्मिन्श्रिताः ॥

urdhva-mulam adhah-shakham etam ashvattham sanatanam | tad eva shukram tad brahma tad evamritam uchyate | sarve lokas tasmin shritah ||

With root above and branches below, this eternal Ashvattha tree — that is the pure, that is Brahman, that is called the immortal. All worlds rest in It.

ऊपर को जड़ वाला, नीचे को शाखाओं वाला यह सनातन अश्वत्थ (वृक्ष) है। वही शुक्र है, वही ब्रह्म है, वही अमृत कहा जाता है। सब लोक उसी पर आश्रित हैं।
