Katha Upanishad 6.5

अङ्गुष्ठमात्रः पुरुषोऽन्तरात्मा सदा जनानां हृदये सन्निविष्टः | तं स्वाच्छरीरात्प्रवृहेन्मुञ्जादिवेषीकां धैर्येण | तं विद्याच्छुक्रममृतं तं विद्याच्छुक्रममृतमिति ॥

angushtha-matrah purusho'ntaratma sada jananam hridaye sannivishtah | tam svach charirat pravrhen munjad iveshikam dhairyena | tam vidyach chhukram amritam tam vidyach chhukram amritam iti ||

The Person of the size of a thumb, the inner Self, is always seated in the heart of all beings. One should draw It out from one's own body with firmness, as one draws the stalk from the munja grass. One should know It as the bright, the immortal — the bright, the immortal.

अंगुष्ठ-मात्र अन्तरात्मा-पुरुष मनुष्यों के हृदय में सदा प्रविष्ट है। उसे अपने शरीर से धैर्य-पूर्वक ऐसे निकाल लेना चाहिए, जैसे मुंज-घास से ईषीका (भीतर की सींक) खींच ली जाती है। उसे शुक्र (शुद्ध तेज) और अमृत रूप जानना चाहिए — हाँ, उसे शुक्र और अमृत रूप ही जानना चाहिए।
