Mundaka Upanishad 5.1

द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परिषस्वजाते | तयोरन्यः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वत्त्यनश्नन्नन्यो अभिचाकशीति ॥

dva suparna sayuja sakhaya samanam vriksham parishasvajate | tayor anyah pippalam svadv atty anashnan anyo abhichakashiti ||

Two birds, inseparable companions, cling to the same tree. One of them eats the sweet fruit; the other looks on without eating.

दो पक्षी, सयुज (एक साथ जुड़े हुए) सखा, समान वृक्ष का आलिङ्गन करते हैं। उनमें से एक स्वादिष्ट पिप्पल-फल खाता है; दूसरा बिना खाए ही देखता रहता है।
