Prashna Upanishad

Sanskrit · Upanishad · ~500-300 BCE

The Prashna Upanishad belongs to the Atharvaveda and is structured as six questions (prashnas) posed by six sages to the teacher Pippalada. It explores the origin of life and matter, the supremacy of Prana, the five vital breaths, the states of waking and sleep, meditation on Om, and the sixteen parts of the Purusha. One of the principal Upanishads, it bridges Vedic ritual cosmology with Vedantic metaphysics.
