Prashna Upanishad 1.6

अथादित्य उदयन्यत्प्राचीं दिशं प्रविशति तेन प्राच्यान्प्राणान्रश्मिषु सन्निधत्ते | यद्दक्षिणां यत्प्रतीचीं यदुदीचीं यदधो यदूर्ध्वं यदन्तरा दिशो यत्सर्वं प्रकाशयति तेन सर्वान्प्राणान्रश्मिषु सन्निधत्ते ॥

athaditya udayan yat prachim disham pravishati tena prachyan pranan rashmishu sannidhatte | yad dakshinam yat pratichim yad udichim yad adho yad urdhvam yad antara disho yat sarvam prakashayati tena sarvan pranan rashmishu sannidhatte ||

Now the sun, rising, enters the eastern quarter, thereby holding the eastern living beings in his rays. When he illumines the south, the west, the north, below, above, the intermediate quarters, and everything — he holds all living beings in his rays.

अब उदय होता हुआ आदित्य जब पूर्व दिशा में प्रवेश करता है, तब पूर्व दिशा के प्राणियों को वह अपनी रश्मियों में धारण कर लेता है। जब वह दक्षिण, पश्चिम, उत्तर, अधः, ऊर्ध्व और अन्तर दिशाओं को, अर्थात् सबको प्रकाशित करता है, तब वह समस्त प्राणियों को अपनी रश्मियों में धारण कर लेता है।
