Rig Veda 15.1

नासदासीन्नो सदासीत्तदानीं नासीद्रजो नो व्योमा परो यत् । किमावरीवः कुह कस्य शर्मन्नम्भः किमासीद्गहनं गभीरम् ॥

nasad asin no sad asit tadanim nasid rajo no vyoma paro yat | kim avarivah kuha kasya sharman ambhah kim asid gahanam gabhiram

There was neither existence nor non-existence then. There was no realm of air, no sky beyond. What covered it? Where was it? In whose protection? Was there water, unfathomably deep?

तब न असत् था, न सत् था; न रजो था, न व्योम का पारलोक। क्या ढके था उसे? कहाँ था? किसकी शरण में? क्या था वह अगाध-गहन अम्भ?
