Rig Veda 15.2

न मृत्युरासीदमृतं न तर्हि न रात्र्या अह्न आसीत्प्रकेतः । आनीदवातं स्वधया तदेकं तस्माद्धान्यन्न परः किं चनास ॥

na mrityur asid amritam na tarhi na ratarya ahna asit praketah | anid avatam svadhaya tad ekam tasmad dhanyan na parah kim chanasa

There was neither death nor immortality then. There was no sign of night or day. That One breathed, windless, by its own impulse. Other than that, there was nothing beyond.

तब न मृत्यु थी, न अमृत; न रात्रि-दिन का कोई चिह्न था। वह एक अपनी ही स्वधा से निःश्वास ले रहा था — वायु-रहित। उसके अतिरिक्त और कुछ न था।
