Rig Veda 2.3

वृषायमाणोऽवृणीत सोमं त्रिकद्रुकेष्वपिबत्सुतस्य । आ सायकं मघवादत्त वज्रमहन्नेनं प्रथमजामहीनाम् ॥

vrishayamano'avrinita somam trikadrikeshv apibat sutasya | a sayakam maghava adatta vajram ahann enam prathamajam ahinam

Impetuous like a bull, he chose the Soma. In three vessels he drank the pressed juice. The bounteous one seized the thunderbolt as his weapon and slew the firstborn of the serpents.

वृषभ की भाँति उन्मत्त होकर इन्द्र ने सोम को चुना; तीन द्रोणकलशों में से उन्होंने निचोड़ा हुआ सोम पीया। मघवान् ने वज्र को अपने शस्त्र रूप में लिया और अहियों के प्रथमजात को मार डाला।
