Rig Veda 2.6

अयोद्धेव दुर्मद आ हि जुह्वे महावीरं तुविबाधमृजीषिन् । नातारीत्तस्य समृतिं वधानां सं जग्मानो ऽवृणक्तिन्द्रशत्रुः ॥

ayoddha iva durmada a hi juhve mahaaviram tuvibaadham rijishin | na atarit tasya samritim vadhanam sam jagmano avrinak tindra-shatruh

Like an unmanned warrior in his drunkenness, he had challenged the great hero, the mighty oppressor. He could not withstand the shock of his weapons; broken-nosed, he lay crushed, the enemy of Indra.

किसी अकुशल योद्धा की तरह मदमत्त हो उसने उस महावीर, बाधक-दलन करने वाले ऋजीषी को ललकारा था। वह उनके प्रहारों के आघात को सह न सका; इन्द्र-शत्रु टूटकर पृथ्वी पर बिखरा हुआ पड़ा।
