Rig Veda 2.8

नदं न भिन्नममुया शयानं मनो रुहाणा अतियन्ति आपः । याश्चिद्वृत्रो महिना पर्यतिष्ठत्तासामहिः पत्सुतः शीर्बभूव ॥

nadam na bhinnam amuya shayanam mano ruhana atiyanti apah | yash chid vritro mahina paryatishthat tasam ahih patsu tah shir babhuva

Over him who lay like a broken reed the waters flowed, rising over him. At the feet of the very waters which Vritra in his might had enclosed, there the serpent lay.

टूटी हुई नरकुल की तरह उसके ऊपर जल बहने लगे, चढ़ने लगे। वृत्र अपनी महिमा से जिन जलों को रोके हुए था, उन्हीं जलों के चरणों में अहि पड़ा रहा।
