Rig Veda 5.3

समानो अध्वा स्वसरोरनन्तस्तमन्यन्या चरतो देवशिष्टे । न मेथेते न तस्थतुः सुमेके नक्तोषासा समनसा विरूपे ॥

samano adhva svasaror anantas tam anyanya charato deva-shishte | na methete na tasthatuh sumeke nakta-ushasa samanasa virupe

Common and unending is the path of the two sisters, who traverse it alternately, guided by the gods. They do not clash, they do not halt — Night and Dawn, of one mind yet of different forms.

दोनों बहनों का मार्ग एक है, अनन्त है; वे देवों के आदेश से बारी-बारी से चलती हैं। न टकराती हैं, न रुकती हैं — रात्रि और उषा समान मन वाली होकर भी भिन्न रूप धारण करती हैं।
