Rig Veda 9.4

इमं जीवेभ्यः परिधिं दधामि मैषां नु अन्यो गच्छतात्पुरस्तात् । शतं जीवन्तु शरदः पुरूचीरन्तर्मृत्यं दधतां पर्वतेन ॥

imam jivebhyah paridhim dadhami maisham nu anyo gacchatat purastat | shatam jivantu sharadah puruchir antar mrityum dadhatam parvatena

I set this boundary for the living — let none of these go beyond it before their time. May they live a hundred full autumns, placing Death behind them like a mountain.

मैं जीवितों के लिए यह सीमा रेखा स्थापित करता हूँ — इनमें से कोई भी अपने समय से पहले इसे पार न करे। वे सौ शरद् तक पूर्ण जीवन जीएँ, मृत्यु को पर्वत की तरह अपने पीछे रखते हुए।
