Tao Te Ching 10.1

載營魄抱一，能無離乎？專氣致柔，能如嬰兒乎？滌除玄覽，能無疵乎？愛民治國，能無為乎？天門開闔，能為雌乎？明白四達，能無知乎？生之畜之，生而不有，為而不恃，長而不宰，是謂玄德。

zai ying po bao yi, neng wu li hu? zhuan qi zhi rou, neng ru ying er hu? di chu xuan lan, neng wu ci hu? ai min zhi guo, neng wu wei hu? tian men kai he, neng wei ci hu? ming bai si da, neng wu zhi hu? sheng zhi xu zhi, sheng er bu you, wei er bu shi, zhang er bu zai, shi wei xuan de.

Can you keep body and soul embracing the One without letting them part? Can you concentrate your breath and become soft like an infant? Can you cleanse your inner vision and be free of all flaw? Can you love the people and govern the state without cunning? Can you open and close the gates of heaven and play the part of the feminine? Can you understand all things in every direction and still remain unknowing? Give birth to them and nourish them. Give them life but do not possess them. Act on their behalf but do not make them dependent. Lead them but do not dominate them. This is called the mysterious virtue.

क्या तू शरीर और प्राण को एक में बाँधकर अविच्छिन्न रख सकता है? क्या तू श्वास को एकाग्र कर शिशु के समान कोमल हो सकता है? क्या तू भीतर की दृष्टि को स्वच्छ कर निर्दोष हो सकता है? क्या तू जनता से प्रेम कर और राज्य का शासन बिना चातुर्य के कर सकता है? क्या तू स्वर्ग के द्वार खोलते-बंद करते समय स्त्री की भूमिका निभा सकता है? क्या तू चारों दिशाओं में स्पष्ट देख कर भी अज्ञानी रह सकता है? जन्म दे और पाले; जन्म दे पर अधिकार न जताए, कार्य करे पर निर्भर न करे, बड़े करे पर शासन न करे — इसी को गूढ़ गुण कहते हैं।
