Tao Te Ching 33.1

知人者智，自知者明。勝人者有力，自勝者強。知足者富。強行者有志。不失其所者久。死而不亡者壽。

zhi ren zhe zhi, zi zhi zhe ming. sheng ren zhe you li, zi sheng zhe qiang. zhi zu zhe fu. qiang xing zhe you zhi. bu shi qi suo zhe jiu. si er bu wang zhe shou.

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others requires strength; mastering yourself requires true power. He who knows contentment is rich. He who perseveres has will. He who does not lose his place endures. He who dies but is not forgotten enjoys true longevity.

दूसरों को जानना बुद्धि है; स्वयं को जानना प्रज्ञा है। दूसरों पर विजय शक्ति है; स्वयं पर विजय सच्चा बल है। जो संतुष्ट है वह धनी है। जो दृढ़ता से चलता है उसमें संकल्प है। जो अपना स्थान नहीं खोता वह चिरस्थायी है। जो मरकर भी विस्मृत नहीं होता — वही सच्ची दीर्घायु वाला है।
