Tao Te Ching 35.1

執大象，天下往。往而不害，安平太。樂與餌，過客止。道之出口，淡乎其無味，視之不足見，聽之不足聞，用之不足既。

zhi da xiang, tian xia wang. wang er bu hai, an ping tai. le yu er, guo ke zhi. dao zhi chu kou, dan hu qi wu wei, shi zhi bu zu jian, ting zhi bu zu wen, yong zhi bu zu ji.

Hold fast to the great image, and all the world will come. Coming to it, they will encounter no harm — only peace, security, and well-being. Music and fine food will make a passing traveller stop. But the Tao, when it is uttered, is bland and without flavour. Looked at, it is not enough to be seen. Listened to, it is not enough to be heard. Yet when used, it is inexhaustible.

महान प्रतिमा को धारण कर — तो संसार तेरे पास आ जाएगा। आकर भी कोई हानि न पाएगा — केवल शांति, कुशलता और कल्याण। संगीत और सुस्वादु भोजन राहगीर को रोक लेते हैं। पर दाओ जब मुख से निकलता है, फीका है, स्वादहीन है; देखो तो पर्याप्त दिखाई नहीं देता; सुनो तो पर्याप्त सुनाई नहीं देता; पर बरतो तो अक्षय है।
