Tao Te Ching 48.1

為學日益，為道日損。損之又損，以至於無為。無為而無不為。取天下常以無事，及其有事，不足以取天下。

wei xue ri yi, wei dao ri sun. sun zhi you sun, yi zhi yu wu wei. wu wei er wu bu wei. qu tian xia chang yi wu shi, ji qi you shi, bu zu yi qu tian xia.

In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired. In the pursuit of the Tao, every day something is dropped. Less and less is done, until one arrives at non-action. When nothing is done, nothing is left undone. The world is always won by those who let go. Those who try to hold on to it are never able to win the world.

विद्या का पीछा करने में प्रतिदिन कुछ जुड़ता जाता है; दाओ का पीछा करने में प्रतिदिन कुछ छोड़ा जाता है। छोड़ते-छोड़ते अक्रिया तक पहुँचा जाता है। अक्रिया में कुछ अकृत नहीं रहता। संसार को सदा अ-कार्य से जीता जाता है; जब कार्य करने लगे, तब संसार जीतने के योग्य नहीं रह जाता।
