Tao Te Ching 63.1

為無為，事無事，味無味。大小多少，報怨以德。圖難於其易，為大於其細。天下難事，必作於易；天下大事，必作於細。是以聖人終不為大，故能成其大。夫輕諾必寡信，多易必多難。是以聖人猶難之，故終無難矣。

wei wu wei, shi wu shi, wei wu wei. da xiao duo shao, bao yuan yi de. tu nan yu qi yi, wei da yu qi xi. tian xia nan shi, bi zuo yu yi; tian xia da shi, bi zuo yu xi. shi yi sheng ren zhong bu wei da, gu neng cheng qi da. fu qing nuo bi gua xin, duo yi bi duo nan. shi yi sheng ren you nan zhi, gu zhong wu nan yi.

Act without acting. Work without effort. Taste without tasting. Regard the small as great and the few as many. Repay resentment with virtue. Deal with the difficult while it is still easy. Deal with the great while it is still small. The difficult things of the world must begin with what is easy. The great things of the world must begin with what is small. Therefore the sage never strives for the great, and thereby achieves greatness. Lightly made promises inspire little faith. Regarding things as easy makes them difficult. Therefore the sage regards things as difficult, and in the end has no difficulty.

क्रिया-रहित क्रिया कर; कार्य-रहित कार्य कर; स्वादहीन को स्वाद कर। छोटे को बड़ा और थोड़े को बहुत मान; द्वेष को गुण से चुकता कर। कठिन से निपट जब वह अभी सरल है; बड़े को कर जब वह अभी सूक्ष्म है। संसार की कठिन वस्तुएँ सरल से आरंभ होती हैं; संसार की बड़ी वस्तुएँ सूक्ष्म से आरंभ होती हैं। इसलिए संत कभी महानता के लिए प्रयत्न नहीं करता, और इसीलिए महानता सिद्ध कर पाता है। हल्के में दिए गए वचन में कम विश्वास होता है; सब कुछ सरल समझने से बहुत कठिनाई उत्पन्न होती है। इसलिए संत भी वस्तुओं को कठिन मानकर चलता है, और अंत में उसे कोई कठिनाई नहीं आती।
