Aitareya Upanishad 1.3

स ईक्षत इमे नु लोकाः लोकपालान्नु सृजा इति | सोऽद्भ्य एव पुरुषं समुद्धृत्याऽमूर्छयत् ॥

sa ikshata ime nu lokah lokapalan nu srija iti | so'dbhya eva purusham samuddhritya'murchhayat ||

It thought: 'Here are the worlds; let me now create the guardians of the worlds.' From the waters themselves It drew forth a Person and gave him form.

उसने विचार किया — 'ये लोक तो हो गए; अब मैं इनके लोकपालों की सृष्टि करूँ।' तब उसने जल से ही एक पुरुष को उद्धृत करके उसे मूर्त रूप प्रदान किया।
