Brahma Sutras 8.10

अंशो नानाव्यपदेशादन्यथा चापि दाशकिनत्वादिष्वम् ॥

amsho nana-vyapadeshat anyatha chapi dashakitva-adishvam

The individual self is a part of Brahman, because of the diverse scriptural statements, and because otherwise there would be the status of a fisherman and so on.

[जीव] [ब्रह्म का] अंश (= भाग) है — [क्योंकि श्रुतियों में] नाना (= अनेक) व्यपदेश (= उल्लेख) हैं; और अन्यथा (= यदि ऐसा न हो) तो [जीव को] दाशकिन्त्व (= मल्लाह/निम्न-जाति-भाव) आदि [की आपत्ति] होगी ॥
