Dhammapada 2.6

पमादमनुयुञ्जन्ति बाला दुम्मेधिनो जना | अप्पमादञ्च मेधावी धनं सेट्ठं व रक्खति ॥

pamadamanuyunjanti bala dummedhino jana | appamadancha medhavi dhanam settham va rakkhati ||

The foolish and unwise indulge in heedlessness, but the wise one guards heedfulness as the greatest treasure.

बाल और दुर्मेधा लोग प्रमाद में प्रवृत्त होते हैं; परन्तु मेधावी व्यक्ति अप्रमाद की वैसे ही रक्षा करता है जैसे श्रेष्ठ धन की।
