Let him admonish, instruct, and shield one from wrong. He is indeed dear to the good, but disliked by the bad.

Do not associate with evil friends; do not associate with the lowest of men. Associate with virtuous friends; associate with the best of men.

Verse 4

One who drinks the Dhamma lives happily with a serene mind. The wise one always delights in the Dhamma proclaimed by the Noble Ones.

Verse 5

Irrigators channel the water; fletchers straighten the arrow; carpenters shape the wood; wise people discipline themselves.
