Dhammapada 6.5

उदकं हि नयन्ति नेत्तिका उसुकारा नमयन्ति तेजनं | दारुं नमयन्ति तच्छका अत्तानं दमयन्ति पण्डिता ॥

udakam hi nayanti nettika usukara namayanti tejanam | darum namayanti tachhaka attanam damayanti pandita ||

Irrigators channel the water; fletchers straighten the arrow; carpenters shape the wood; wise people discipline themselves.

नेत्तिक (नहर बनाने वाले) जल को ले जाते हैं, बाण बनाने वाले बाण को सीधा करते हैं, बढ़ई काष्ठ को ढालते हैं — पण्डित अपने आप को दमन करते हैं।
