Verse 1

I praise Agni, the chosen priest, the divine minister of sacrifice, the invoker, who bestows the greatest riches.

Agni, worthy to be praised by sages ancient and modern alike — may he bring the gods here.

Through Agni may one obtain wealth that increases day by day, glorious and abounding in heroic sons.

O Agni, the sacrifice which you encompass on every side — that indeed goes to the gods.

Agni, the invoker, the sage of true wisdom, of most brilliant fame — may the god come with the gods.
