Rig Veda 10.4

त्रिपादूर्ध्व उदैत्पुरुषः पादोऽस्येहाऽभवत्पुनः । ततो विष्वङ्व्यक्रामत्साशनानशने अभि ॥

tripad urdhva udait purushah pado'syeha abhavat punah | tato vishvang vyakramat sa ashana-anashane abhi

Three-fourths of him rose upward; one-fourth came into being here again. From this he spread in all directions into that which eats and that which does not eat.

पुरुष के तीन चौथाई ऊर्ध्व भाग उठ गए; एक चौथाई यहाँ पुनः प्रकट हुआ। फिर वे सब ओर फैलकर खाने वाले और न खाने वाले — दोनों में व्याप्त हो गए।
