Rig Veda 3.9

तन्मित्रस्य वरुणस्याभिचक्षे सूर्यो रूपं कृणुते द्योरुपस्थे । अनन्तमन्यद्रुशदस्य पाजः कृष्णमन्यद्धरितः सं भरन्ति ॥

tan mitrasya varunasya abhichakshe suryo rupam krinute dyor upasthe | anantam anyad rushad asya pajah krishnam anyad dharitah sam bharanti

In the sight of Mitra and Varuna, Surya fashions his form in the lap of heaven. Infinite is his bright form on one side; on the other, his dark horses bring the night.

मित्र और वरुण की दृष्टि के लिए सूर्य द्यौ की गोद में अपना रूप रचते हैं। उनका एक पक्ष अनन्त और उज्ज्वल है; दूसरा पक्ष — उनके हरित अश्व कृष्ण वर्ण ले आते हैं।
