Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 2.23

स्वस्वामिशक्त्योः स्वरूपोपलब्धिहेतुः संयोगः ॥

sva-svami-shaktyoh svarupa-upalabdhi-hetuh samyogah

The union of the owner (Purusha) and the owned (Prakriti) is the cause of apprehending the true nature of each.

स्व (प्रकृति) और स्वामी (पुरुष) — इन दोनों की शक्तियों के स्वरूप का ज्ञान कराने का हेतु ही संयोग है।
