जातिलक्षणदेशैरन्यतानवच्छेदात्तुल्ययोस्ततः प्रतिपत्तिः ॥

jati-lakshana-deshaih anyata-anavacchedat tulyayos tatah pratipattih

From that comes the ability to distinguish between two similar things when their distinction cannot be made by class, characteristic, or position.

उससे ऐसी दो तुल्य वस्तुओं की भी प्रतिपत्ति (पहचान) होती है, जिनकी भिन्नता जाति, लक्षण या देश से अनवच्छिन्न (सूचित न हो सकने वाली) हो।
